Real Madrid break transfer record and then break again days later

Real Madrid recently re-elected president Florentino Perez. He was the president back in the late 90s/early 00s when they were the power house of the world. He was just re-elected this year and vowed to bring back the "Galacticos" era. Their first bit of business this week: signing Kaka from AC Milan. If you remember Boski blogged about how Kaka turned down a (and what would have been world record transfer fee) 100 million pound bid from Man City in the Dec. transfer window. He stated he did not want to leave Milan. Well it turns out he would leave the club, for less money, as long as it was a better club. He accepted a 56 million pound bid this week. I guess half of the money, but a much better club was all that he was looking for. Well they weren't finished there. They decided to sign, which has been rumored about for the last 1 1/2 years, Ronaldo from Man Utd. For the fee of 80 million pounds. So in one week they've spent a combined total of about $228,000,000 (in dollars). On two players!!!! Can you buy success? Chelsea proved it is possible back a few years ago, but after the initial success it quickly turned sour. Will this be Real's year to come back?

hahahahah, that just made me do a real lol at my desk.

i actually couldn't name a single player on real madrid, havent really followed the scene much but I couldn't see how adding these two guys wouldn't greatly improve them if they are as good as their hype. as far as spending tons of money, I could name cases where it worked and didn't work for teams, so i guess it pretty much depends on who your getting. Yankees, Red Sox, Chelsea would be examples of team where massive spending pays off, but you also have the Redskins, Man City, Rockies, and Mariners a few years ago as examples of when it doesn't work

to add to that point....i can't name a single team that has SUSTAINED greatness for a long period of time due to massive spending. the yankees were the only ones you could maybe say did that in the late 90s early 00s....but they weren't spending nearly what they are now

I don't think it will work, they still have a shaky defense. Man UTD. makes so much money off of real madrird. When we have had enough of the player we sell them to Madrird for a huge markup. Other notable players that have been sold to Real from Man U:

David Beckham
Gabriel Heinze
Ruud van Nistelrooy
and now Ronaldo

yahoo sports does not agree with teh bosk about ruud leaving being a smart move for man u.....

"After five prolific seasons at Man Utd where he scored 150 goals, winning one Premier League crown, Van Nistelrooy’s relationship with Ferguson also deteriorated and he left for Fabio Capello’s Real Madrid in the summer of 2006. It was a masterstroke by Capello, as the Dutchman fired home 25 league goals to take the Blancos to their first title since 2003. Van Nistelrooy scored another 16 the following campaign as Madrid retained the championship."

Yahoo sports don't know shit. He wasn't fitting in the squad anymore. I mean hes not a bad player. But lets see, since joining Real they have done:
League Champs: 2006 & 2007
Super Copa 2008

Man U since his departure:
Leagues Champs: 2007,2008,2009
Carling Cup Champ: 2009
UEFA Champions League: 2008
FIFA World Club Cup: 2008

Whos done better? Plus we made a huge profit from him.
