I'm Alive

Just figured I'd make a little post since I haven't done so in a long time. I don't have anything too interesting to write about so I'll stick to what I know, myself.

Right now I'm living in Frederick, MD for a month doing my obstetrics/gynecology rotation...delivering babies and looking at vaginas...too many vaginas...hairy, unkempt vaginas. The gynecology aspect sucks, I have no interest in doing female physicals. The OB aspect is ok, I get to help with c-sections and deliver babies. Just started Monday so I havent done too much yet, I have sutured up some stomachs after a few c-sections today though. I still wanna do anesthesia. In the process of getting some anesthesia rotations currently.

On that note, I kind of have a dilemma. I've been dating my girlfriend for about 5 months now. We both live in Petersburg, WV for now (except this month when I'm in MD), but in the next couple months we start traveling around to different areas for 4th year rotations. Basically you wanna do rotations at places that have residency programs for your specialty so that they get to know you and possibly write you a letter of recommendation. Long story short, we will probably end up at different places for months at a time, then get accepted into residencies far apart. So you get the picture. Also there aren't any residency programs for anesthesia back home so if I do get accepted I'll be away for 4 more years =(.

I could go on, but I'm done taking my dump now.

Pex you're only an hour from where I live. Let me know if you want to do dinner or something while you're in town.

If you really like the chick, I'd say give it a shot. But long distance stuff sucks in my opinion (I'm sure Term could really speak to it).

first off, i see your insanely long dumps haven't stopped since you managed to write that whole post doing so...

good update tho..i was wondering how close you were to residency. the thought of some of the "sights" you get to see delivering kids made me vomit a little tho

i can give some insight into long distance and say it blows massively. different for everyone tho i guess, the space can be enjoyable, but i despise some little things...like talking on the phone for over 42 seconds, so that part of it blows.

guessing you never really get a full weekend off, but if you ever did for what you have left and frederick and decided to visit boon, i would come up if nathan let me sleep at his place (which is 50/50 at best i would guess)

oh cool, definitely then. i plan on going back during the weekends, so during the week sometime. this week i'm busy but next week for sure.

yea, all vaginas are not equal thats for sure. i also agree with the phone thing for the most part.

im not exactly sure if i get every weekend off, but when i do i gotta visit my gf, you know how it is

Cara really wanted to do a natural vaginal birth but I am soo glad she had two c-sections. no stretched out vaga for boski. we got to watch a few on film when we took all those birthing classes before coop and just the videos were enough for me. they didn't let me watch coop's c-sect (i got to be in the room) and said I had to stay on the side of the sheet next to cara's head. but for jack they were like c'mon over dad check it out, I was like OK..it was a bit of a site, they even let me snap some pics which they were so anti against doing when coop was born.

yea they usually just let the dads stand behind the curtain. everything in front of it is sterile so if you touch anything it could be bad. plus some people might not like to see the inside of a person's abdomen. the procedure can also seem kind of archaic and might disturb the dad since there is so much ripping and pulling of the layers

Yea, Boski hung in there through it. I was talking to another dad who used to work here and said they told him he could look while they did a c-sect on his "babby momma" and said he passed out, they had to get the smelling salt to wake him up.

long distance for >6 months is severely difficult.

imo, both should do rotations or whatever in houston. i'm sure that there are plenty of opportunities here and this place is baller.
