This will finalize my opinion on Bob Bradley...

From ESPN: "Bradley believes they can cause an upset, though, saying: 'We came up against Spain before Euro 2008 and we played a great game. We've been watching them during this tournament and we've been taking note of their style. We know how to stop them and we are very confident.' "

If we lose by more than 2 goals, Bradley should be fired after acting like a cocky dick like that. You might take this comment as nothing special, but if you've listened to this guy talk about soccer over the past year you tend to get sick of him. Lack of coaching is one of the main reasons US soccer has not progressed over the past 15 years imho.

He is not a good coach, but the US need to pay up and land a decent coach. Hes done some good but I think he has taken the team as far as he can, he was originally slated as only a "care taker" manager while they hunted for a new coach and somehow he has stayed with them. We will get rolled this game, one upset over Egypt doesn't mean anything. I am pulling for them but am predicting we go down 5-1. Yes we will score, we will get a penalty which landy cakes will convert in the 89th minute.

The comments dont really bother me, I'd rather see a coach say that then the truth..."Hey were pretty much coming into this game knowing were gonna get rolled, they have torres and company, we play one forward formations with ching, altisucky, and company up front. Basically were just hoping we dont lose by three goals"

He is a garbage coach though. For one, the 4-5-1 which he continutes to play will never work with our team. Even with 5 midfielders we still get outplayed in the middle, and we definetly don't have anyone that resembles a player that can score as the only forward. Second I think his personnel moves are terrible. There is no way I can believe that Altidore, Ching, and the other scrubs I have seen in the Confed cup who ive never heard of playing up top are the best we can offer. If that is the case, we need to give wynalda and mcbride a call heading into the world cup. Also, all of these "foreign/american" players are garbage, basically dudes coming over here because they couldnt make their own teams. I have seriously never heard of 2/3 of the guys I have seen playing for our team in the CONFED Cup. The teams that did good for us, 94 and 02 teams, were guys that played together for a while. Bringing in all of these imports is not going to lead to any success, especially when none of them are very good in the first place

true or false: soccer is the sport in which the worse team has the highest likelihood of pulling an upset.

I'm going to say true.

hmm...interesting question. i gotta go false and say baseball would be the answer to that question. Heres my defense:

(All estimates)

Top MLB Team - 100-61 62%

Top NBA Team - 66-16 80%

Top NFL Team - 13-3 81%

Top Premeir Team - 28-6-4 68%

Top NHL Team - 53-18 75%

Granted this isn't a great way to look at it because not all of the games in a season are against "a weaker team", but I still think Baseball would be the easiest to upset someone followed by soccer probably. Football I would say is the least likely for an upset. Just look at college football's opening few weeks, you may see one big upset (appalachin st over mich, somethin like that), but usually the games are all blowouts.

unless the US collapses in the last 15 mins....I would say bob bradley just secured himself a job for a few more years

term needs to do more post like this everytime the US plays...maybe Bob Bradley/the US team is reading this blog and gets pumped up to prove him wrong.

or maybe term just doesn't know what he is talking about

I'll admit off the bat that my words were obviously incorrect, but I am going to wait until I watch the game before I make my official post.

I was wrong though, he managed to pull it out.

i didnt see the game either, but just from hearing the stats on the radio a second ago it seems like a fluke win. not taking anything away from the US, a wins a win and it actually gives me a little hope for our team going forward. but i mean i think the shots were 29-9, and the corner kick totals were something like 17-3 spain....thats pretty alarming. if we play brazil, im pretty confident we will get embarrassed like that first game, but who knows....hopefully im wrong

i watched the game. it seemed like the US game plan was to pack it in and hope for some random counters. The funny thing is, it worked great. However, with that type of game plan you will lose 8 out of 10 times. But I don't think we have the skill to play them straight up. This was pretty much the only way we would have a chance against Spain. It kind of reminds me of the Tornadoes strategy vs Azzurri in high school. They [tornadoes] just didn't have the horses to compete with Adam Gillespe and Co.

and to comment on prime's post. baseball may be the easiest to upset, but i don't think you can come to that conclusion based on team records. maybe baseball teams are just overall closer in skill level. plus, in baseball you dont have your best players in every game. For instance, a bad team could have a stud pitcher (Royals), so if they play the red soxs is it really an upset if the royals win?

i think in soccer you can be substantially worse, but play for a tie and have a decent shot of getting that result.
